Our Mission: We strive to empower our customers and serve our community by offering solutions for mobility, accessibility, and comfort in and out of the home.
Home Ability Store is here to help you live safely and comfortably at home. We sell directly to the public and, also, work with Workman’s Compensation and charitable foundation plans.
We understand that living with certain medical conditions, recovering from injuries or surgery, or simply making sure your home is safe and comfortable can be challenging to manage. Our trained and experienced consultants will help you find the right solution for your needs.
Home Ability has made the effort to find the best quality products available from a select group of trusted vendor partners. We are locally owned and operated by a multi-generational North Florida family.
Steve Horner
Owner
Steve Horner is a lifelong North Floridian, raised here in Jacksonville Beach and Ponte Vedra Beach. After 30 years career at the PGA TOUR, Steve retired and then looked for an opportunity to own a business and serve the greater community. In May 2020, he purchased the Home Ability Store. He is essentially living a lifelong goal to lead and grow his own business while also joining his children in doing so. His passion with Home Ability is to find the best possible products and solutions for his clients’ mobility and accessibility needs. Steve and his wife Shay have been married for 31 years and still reside in Ponte Vedra Beach. He is an active competitive golfer and serves as the most vocal Auburn University fan in the area.
Abby Horner
General Manager
Abby Horner was born and raised here in Jacksonville, Florida. She played trombone in the marching band at Ponte Vedra High School, then later at Auburn University. Abby moved back home when her mom began suffering from a rare neurological disorder. She has always been the helper around the house and with all of her grandparents, so when her dad bought Home Ability, Abby was so excited for the opportunity to help more people in similar situations. She will go to great lengths to make sure our customers are well taken care of and find the perfect solutions for every situation.
Scott Weikel
Lead Technician
Scott Weikel was born in Statesville, North Carolina. His father was in the FBI, so he moved several times before finishing 1st grade. He grew up in the hospitality industry, washing dishes at Hidden Hills Country Club at the age of 15 and later managing several restaurants. He went on to own and operate a dry cleaning business for ten years. After selling his business, Scott wanted to do something different while still helping and serving others. He is a Stannah certified technician and is our stairlift specialist here at Home Ability. Scott is incredibly dedicated to our customers and loves giving the gift of mobility.
Cameron Horner
Everything Man
Cameron Horner is a native of Jacksonville, Florida, and an alumnus of Ponte Vedra High School. He pursued his higher education at Auburn University, where he actively served as the social chair within the esteemed fraternity, Phi Delta Theta, culminating in his graduation in 2019. Following his academic journey, Cameron returned to Jacksonville to contribute to Home Ability alongside his family.
Since his incorporation into our team, Cameron has played an instrumental role in advancing our business objectives. His multifaceted responsibilities span across various domains, encompassing sales, installations, and showroom operations. Cameron’s versatility and dedication have proven invaluable to the Home Ability Store mission, enforcing our commitment to excellence and customer satisfaction.
Bill
Sales Consultant
Bill Buscemi, a native of New York City, obtained his degree from St. John’s University College of Pharmacy, New York. He enjoyed a distinguished career in pharmacy, beginning with his role as a sales representative for a prominent pharmaceutical company upon relocating to Florida in 1981. Subsequently, he practiced as a pharmacist until his retirement in 2010.
In 2022, our CEO, Steve Horner, recognized Bill’s expertise and invited him to join the team at Home Ability Store. With his extensive background in medical equipment and familiarity with conditions necessitating mobility aids, Bill has significantly enhanced our capacity to provide comprehensive consultations to our esteemed clientele. He has seamlessly integrated into the Home Ability family, embodying our commitment to excellence in customer service.
